Split Silk

Split Silk is a sadgirl emo noise rock band from Atlanta, GA. The project began as a recording project for vocalist/guitarist Lucca Cassandra Carver, but after releasing two EPs solo, she enlisted the help of drummer Will Morris and bassist Lucía Alejandra Carreño to form a full band. The group released the Bitter EP in 2024, and began working on their debut album Be The Divine immediately after. The group has toured the midwest and east coast multiple times and is a staple of the Atlanta DIY scene. 

This album and these lyrics represent a journey of processing the trauma of being queer people living in the margins, and learning to find shelter in the beauty of the natural world amidst the noise and chaos. 

The goal of Split Silk was to make loud guitar music informed by post-hardcore acts of the 1990s like Unwound, Drive Like Jehu and Shotmaker, but with a feminine touch at its heart, echoing the songwriting of Kim Deal, Cat Power, and Rainer Maria. The result is delicate pop songs played with propulsive rhythms, angular guitars, and punctuated with feedback and cathartic screams.
