Skeletal Lightning is an independent label based in Urbana, IL that releases music from some of the most exciting bands from around the world. We aim to extend our passion of the underground music scene by releasing albums we love to the many fine folks like you that care. You can read more about our history and background here. All of our releases are hand picked and delicately planned. In an effort to direct our full efforts and attention to our current roster of artists, unfortunately we can't accept any demo submissions at this time.

Skeletal Lightning has a very small team of music and cat lovers, dedicated to bringing you the best new music and merch you can handle.
We do our best to ship out orders within a few days, but a majority of orders are shipped within 5-7 business days from the time you place your order.
It may take us a few extra days to ship orders out during holidays, sales, and large pre-orders.
You’ll receive an e-mail notification with tracking information once your order has shipped. Please note that the time mentioned above only accounts for order fulfillment and not actual shipping and transit times (see below).
The time your order spends in transit will depend on the method of shipping you choose at checkout. Each option includes tracking at no additional cost to you.
*Please note - all items over 16 oz will be shipped via Media Mail due to weight restrictions for First Class shipments, unless you choose Priority Mail as your preferred shipping method at checkout.
Ground Advantage* (4-6 day delivery) -- Lightweight items (under 16 oz - tapes, 7"s, t-shirts) have the ability to ship via First Class Mail .
Media Mail (1-2 weeks delivery) -- The cheapest and most economical option for physical media, such as LPs, CDs, and cassettes above 16 oz.
Priority Mail (2-4 day delivery) -- All items can be shipped priority, which is the quickest option if you're in a hurry.
For international customers:
First Class International -- The most reliable method of international shipping. Delivery can take anywhere from 4-6 weeks. Delivery Confirmation is provided.
Priority International -- The most quickest method of international shipping. Delivery can take anywhere from 1-2 weeks. Delivery Confirmation is provided.
USPS Export International -- The cheapest, but longest method of international shipping. Delivery can sometimes take up to two months. Delivery Confirmation is provided.
*Please note - international orders can take up to an additional week to process and ship.
If you've placed an order with us and have yet to receive a package, there are a few things to double check first:
Does your order contain a pre-order item? You can check that by looking at each item's product page in the store. There will be an estimated shipping date on the product page or detailed in your order confirmation email for those items. (More info on pre-orders below).
If your order does not contain a pre-order item, check for a shipping notification email sent from Skeletal Lightning. Sometimes this email will be in your spam folder. It is sent when your order has officially shipped from Skeletal Lightning HQ, and contains a tracking number to track the delivery of your order.
If you are in the US and none of the above applies, please send us an email at mailorder@skeletallightning.net with your order number and a message about your issue and we'll get back to you as soon as we can, usually within 1-2 business days, to get your order sorted out.
No problem, simply shoot us an email at mailorder@skeletallightning.net with your order number and a brief description of your request and we'll see right to it! Before getting in touch, please note that we do try to pack and ship orders as quickly as possible, so please reach out as soon as you can. Orders that have already been shipped are unable to be re-routed or cancelled.
We offer returns/exchanges on most damaged or defective items within 60 days of purchase. Please e-mail us at mailorder@skeletallightning.net with an in-depth description of your situation and we'll reach back out as soon as we can!
If your tracking info claims that your package has been delivered but you still don't see your package, there's a few things to check first:
1. Did a neighbor, roomate, or family member accept the package on your behalf? This happens pretty frequently, so be sure to ask around!
2. If no one has accepted your package on your behalf and you can't find it, contact your local post office - they should be able to track it down or relay helpful info so that you can get your package. Be sure to share your tracking number with them!
3. If all else fails, please reach out to use at mailorder@skeletallightning.net and we can see what else is possible!

In certain instances involving orders with credit card payment attempts that are initially declined, - due to a wrong zip code or security code entered - you may see a second “charge” on your bank account after the order is successfully placed.
This second charge is called a pre-authorization from your bank. No money is exchanged during declined transaction attempts. It is simply a security measure in place from your bank to insure sufficient funds are available for your purchase.
This pre-authorization “charge” showing on your account should go away after 1-2 business days.
Our transactions are handled by a secure third party. We will never charge you twice for an order, nor do we have the ability to do such a thing. We do not receive funds for declined transactions.
TL;DR - In all likelihood, you were not actually charged twice, but are instead seeing a pre-authorization for a declined payment attempt. No money was exchanged during the declined transaction and this duplicate charge (aka pre-authorization) will be removed from your account by your bank in 1-2 business days once they process your payment.
