We're only halfway through the year and we've got 8 incredible releases shared with the world! Here's a rundown of each of these amazing titles, with plenty more amazing music coming your way!
Droughts - Stay Behind
With Stay Behind, Droughts champion their poignant brand of melody driven post-hardcore while moving forward in a way that allows their sound to expand in a direction that is undeniably all their own. Packaged in a custom die-cut jacket on limited edition colored vinyl.
Engineered and mixed by Matthew Frank. Mastered by Collin Jordan (Alkaline Trio, The Lawrence Arms, Pelican, YOB)
Vasudeva - No Clearance
Self-recorded with an array of colors in their sonic palette, effect pedals, tape players, samplers, drum machines, and a Rhodes piano were just a few of the components used in the making of No Clearance (mastered by Jack Shirley at The Atomic Garden), capturing Vasudeva at their rawest, yet most refined form to date.
New pressing available on gorgeous half n half red/silver vinyl, cassette, CD, or digitally.
Whips - The Ride
Whips is a Milwaukee-based indie rock quartet, formed in late 2012. Comprised from both former and current members of Red Knife Lottery, Space Raft, Hot Coffin, The Academy Is, & Call Me Lightning.
Mastered by Carl Saff (Dinosaur Jr., Braid, Foxing) and engineered by Shane Hochstetler at Howl Street Recording, The Ride draws further on Whips’ bold, high-octane sound, delivering a scorching in-your-face dose of pop infused rock n’ roll.
Flesh Born / Ostraca - faces of the moving year Split
Faces of the Moving Year showcases two of the heaviest bands in the goddamn world. Richmond’s bleak screamo phenom Ostraca creates a maddening scene of gloom and doom as dynamic and heavy as human ears can handle. Denton’s Flesh Born contributes five brand new songs chock full of huge riffs, double bass and shredding vocals to makes this potentially the wildest split the universe currently has to offer.
What Gives - Feels Good
What Gives began during the frigid February of 2014, with a group of friends seeking some sunny, pop-centered relief. Comprised of members from Annabel, Dowsing and Elway, the group recorded a comfy, lo-fi 5 song debut EP with Seth Engel across the hall from their practice space. Soon after, the band recruited fellow Annabel guitarist Corey Willis, and began honing in on a full length record.
The LP that resulted is steeped in influences ranging from fuzzy indie rock guitars, melodic tendencies of radio pop, and somehow captures the feeling of eating fried shrimp with a High Life on a perfect summer day. Feels Good was recorded by Seth Engel at Pallet Sound in the Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago during May and June of 2016.
