Gentle Heat is a Chicago-based band interested in the union of conscious noise with structured melody. Beginning in 2016, the group released their first record “Dissolve” via Sooper Records and began playing shows around Chicago, touring to the east coast that same year. Their follow up EP “Liminal” picks up where their previous record left off, balancing between dissonance & harmony with a refined sense of melody and a penchant for weaving in pockets of ambient sound.
Liminal was recorded & mixed by Dave Vettraino in Bridgeport across the street from Maria's in a (as far as I know) nameless law office. Overdubs were recorded by Cole Johnson and Corey Wichlin. Liminal was mastered by Greg Obis at Chicago Mastering Services.
At the time of this recording, Gentle Heat was David Algrim (Guitar and Vocals), Tim Mack (Drums), E. Smith (Guitar), Corey Wichlin (Bass). Cole Mitchell Johnson is featured on this recording playing synthesizers.
"There’s a nod to Dischord at the early 2000s in their sound, toeing the line between complex structures and enormous melodies." - Post Trash
